Menara Networks, a vertically integrated optical Ethernet transport specialist and provider of the award winning OTN pluggable transceivers, today announces that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued the company Patent # 7580637 for its ground breaking OTN “System-in-a-Module” approach that greatly simplifies IP and Ethernet optical transport.
Menara announces today that it was issued United States Patent # 7580637 for its proprietary approach to integrate ITU-T G.709 OTN framing, OAM processing, forward error correction, and other DWDM optical networking functions into various bit-rate, hot pluggable optical transceivers while at the same time preserving and adhering to the Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) aspects of the respective pluggable optical transceiver module. Menara has shipped the industry’s first such product in 2007 in the form of a OTN DWDM XENPAK module and today offers a full array of Telcordia qualified multi-rate and protocol agnostic tunable OTN transceiver modules including its award winning ATLAS XFP product line.
