Boxee Builds a Streaming Movie Library, Indies First

Boxee is the little guy in a battle for Web TV supremacy, so it’s fitting that the software company’s first movie selections are independent and obscure.
Still in beta, Boxee’s free application for Windows, Mac and Linux turns your computer into a TV-friendly interface for Internet content. It’s ideal for people who use computers as new-age set-top boxes. Traditional TV shows get pulled in from Web sites like ComedyCentral.com and NBC.com, and the choices are arranged on a page of big, colorful thumbnail photos. Boxee also hosts an app library for alternative video services such as Netflix and TWiT.tv.
